Lausanne is the second largest market within the French speaking part of Switzerland. Two sites for new multiplex were considered, one located on a site adjacent to the city centre and a second at an extreme western edge of the urbanized areas. Various market conditions were studied including the possibility of a new competitive operator becoming established at Malley that lies between the two sites examined. Catchment area resident populations were calculated at 240,800 for Bussigny and 143,400 for Flon. The predictions for the proposals were aided by an overall review of the Geneva market following the introduction of multiplex there and the Lucerne market where the performance figures were known for multiplex in operation. |
