Le Grand Parc Aquarium is a planned addition to the Carré Sénart Town Centre, the last of twelve designated satellite new towns under development some thirty kilometres south of the centre of Paris. The site plan includes a large retail centre, multiplex cinema, entertainment, housing, office and the aquarium which will be the largest in Europe exceeding 30,000 square metres of building area. The concept for the aquarium has addressed the perceived demand for an overall high quality leisure destination that presents marine life and a broad experience including rides and interactive involvement. A thorough investigation of the potential market was carried out using surveys and focus discussion groups. Interviews at existing aquariums in France and throughout Europe were conducted and research data obtained from American Australian and Asian operations providing a wide range of comparative data from analysis of comparable situations. |
