Gravity Modelling
Since 1993, Spectrum Analysts have been developing and running gravity modelling for GIS packages. Our latest version, V6.0, is designed to run with ESRI ArcView, our present GIS product of choice.
Gravity modelling uses complex mathematical formulae to predict performance levels of specified sites based on surrounding population and the given attraction of each site. The Gravity Model traditionally analyses retail markets but has been adapted by Spectrum Analysts to also work with in other areas such as entertainment, transportation, logistics and marketing.
The following image is an example of the graphical results of the model. Each individual area of population (in this case CCDs) is assessed for its purchasing power based on demographic characteristics and a percentage market share and xxxx quantity then allocated to each competing operation within the area of influence. Red shades represent highest market share percentages in the map as indicated below.

For more information on what gravity modelling is and what it can do for you specifically, please use the information provided on the Contact Details Page. The Sydney office is the home of Spectrum Analysts and the Spectrum Gravity Model, though consultants at all other locations will be able to help with your requests.
